Hi all, I'm hoping some one can help me out with identifying this mess. I think I know what some of it is, but there's wires that I just don't know what they do. I'm an electrician, but when it comes to car wiring I'm lost.

Engine wiring harness ;
Heavier gauge Pink wire with white plug on the end = Distributor?

Heavier gauge purple wire with no end = ?
Apparently my camera didn't save the picture of this one.

2 Heavier gauge Red wires spliced to 2 orange wires at the end with a ring terminal = Starter?

Smaller gauge Light Brown wire with Black female end = Oil Sending Unit?

Smaller gauge Green wire cut off and taped over = Temp sending unit?

Smaller gauge Dark Green w/ White stripe cut off and taped over = ?

Smaller gauge Brown w/ White stripe cut of and taped over = ?

Smaller gauge Dark Brown spliced onto a plug in connector of some sort = ?

Then in the headlight harness, I have a wire that is just cut off and not sure where it's supposed to go either.
In the harness I have ;
Light Green =
Light Blue =
Dark Green that is cut off and stripped at the end =
Dark Blue =
Brown =
Orange or Tan =

There is a relay or block of some sort on the firewall about center that has no wires to it. Anyone know what it is?

And this wire that comes through the firewall below the brake booster, but above the steering column. I don't think this is factory, as the hole was just plugged with aluminum foil. Unfortunately I forgot to trace it under the dashboard before I left my shop.

Thanks for any help you can give me, I'd really appreciate it.

Pink wire w/white end is the distributor
Heavy purple wire, likely the HVAC fan
Heavy red wires into orange wires are for the starter
Light gauge tan wire is for the oil pressure sending unit
light gauge solid green wire is the temp sensor
Green with white stripe and brown with white stripe looks to have gone to the relay on the firewall you have pictured
Brown wire with odd connector possibly for the alternator
In the headlight harness:
Light green is high beam for the headlights
Light blue is the turn signals
Dk Green is the horn
Dk Blue looks to be lights in the fenders
Brown is also for the turn signals
Tan is for the low beam headlights
The hole plugged with aluminum foil is for the Cruise control harness

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff. Any idea what that relay on the firewall does?

I looked in my manual, it has something to do with the choke heater. I've seen them before but normally disconnected.
