Ok I'm kinda baffled now..to set the scene, here in memphis its in the 90s(hot) during the day and low 80s(cool) at night. Now I been driving for the past three days to work(3rd shift) and the cars been running beautifullly) but when I just went out at about noon it starts f'n up again??? Could the heat have sumkinda effect on it n if so what?

Your local autoparts store might know a mechanic that does some side work who could diagnose and fix it for you. Carberator, vacuum lines, sensor, plugs could be lots of things and no good way to diagnose it over the computer. Especially if you are not at least half a mechanic now. You could also search or run a wanted on Craigslist for someone as well. Maybe look for some used Pontiac ralleys while you are there. She looks bad give the ole girl and yourself some respect. 8)

I agree she needs sum work and I have big plans for this one but for 700$ you ain't gonna get much. I'm still debatinh with myself if I wanna go the custom route or the muscle route..I checked those ralleys and those things r pretty sweet!! I cn see a set with sum white letter tires on her.. gotta paint n body man lined up as well as a interior guy but I wanna get it mechanically sound before I start gettin to cosmetics... gonna go trolling the junkyards this weekend for sum stuff. She's got the bench seat in her now, any ideas on a good bucket seat center console swap? Gonna do sum more searchin through the forums to get sum ideas brewing in the old noggin.. thanks for all the help...

I hate to be the barer of bad news but wheels and paint sounds like the least of the problem.Like you said though,if the car is cutting out in only hot weather it could be "vapor lock".Which isent a big deal, but will need work done on the lines, carb or fuel pump.

EDIT-My bad bro,I dident see the guy above said something about Pontiac Rallys.Hes right though,it would make the car look good..My car has them and ive decided im gonna try to chrome em out.Instead of new rims.Your pretty much in the minority bro cuz GP's seem to be more and more less common.

Yeah I agree I gotta get her up and running good before I get into the cosmetics. "Vapor lock" huh, I haven't heard that one in a while. I thought vapor lock would make the car stall and quit? Either way what to look for, fule lines too close to heat?, get a new fuel pump? I haven't had to much expirence with vapor lock before. I know its where the fuel gets too hot before it reaches the carb n builds up a vapor? Right? I plan on lettin a shop take a look at it, unless its a fairly simple fix, I just wanna have a idea to throw at em...

Yeah its probally the carb or fuel pump only reason I was thinkin vapor lock is cuz how hot you said it is their now and it's happening after you drive it for a while.(i thought thats what you said?)

Yea..if I go to drive her in the day ill get a few blocks down the road n it'll start spittin n sputterin n backfiring. But I can drive it at night no problems at all...also I had taken it to a o'reilys n the guy was telling me about how its a computerized carb? And how they wernt gms best idea. Is this true and if so is there a way to overcome this blunder by gm? Is there a non computer carb that can replace it? OAN I found a set of 15s for 75 bucks..waiting on the guy to txt me back with more info..the ad says early 80s GM wheels...here's the pic on em.
