Picked this sweet ride up a few weeks ago. '86 Eagle wagon. 258, Chrysler 998TF auto, 4x4, 142k miles. Bought from a guy who had a few Comanche's and XJ's laying around. He offered me an SX/4 parts car with it, but unfortunately with this, the Olds, and the 2 Bug's I'm running out of space.
I've wanted an Eagle/Concord for a long time, and so far it's been nice to me unlike air-cooled VW's(Don't meet your heroes, kids).
She runs and drives great, and the interior is pretty much mint after a bit of cleaning. So far I've put new exhaust and a stereo in it, next is a new heater valve and a carb(or rebuild)-it's got a pretty bad bog at part throttle. Other than that it's a blast to drive and it gets me to work every day without fuss.

So far ahead of its time, no one got it. Now everybody makes an SUV/crossover. I saw an article about 10 years ago where a 360 and 2-speed transfer case was swapped in. It was harder than you think, they had to shift the engine off-center about an inch to make it all fit. There's one of these driving around my town. Original owner.

AMC for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice score!!!

Tried to find one for my kid, tin worms have killed everything up here in the Northeast.
Locally there's a 2 door with a 360 and a tremec 5 speed for sale, but screen door floors and Bondo takes the joy out of it for me.
Nice ride.

Cool, i use to own those things, daily drove a wagon for years, we lived on top of a mountain and needed 4wd, I had one , my mom had one and my brother had one, i kept them all running..then in the early 90's we all switched to Subarus, and the whole family owned Subarus, My snow day car to this day is still a Subaru Forester,

If it has a carter carb, good luck. I think you could punch a few holes in a soda can and it would run better.
I have a 76 CJ5 with a 258. It had a one barrel carter I rebuilt that ran well for a minute. I ended up putting a two barrel intake and went with a ford mc2150. (108venturi) Wow, what a difference..I probably have a couple rebuild able 2150's laying around if need be...timo22

oldsmoletick will be along at any time. I recall he had a couple of these.

Polish up the bugs and sell them to keep this. Always wondered what a more modern drivetrain would be like in one of these AMCs
