New house

Tyvek is on three sides now, and I picked up some french doors we found on clearance at Lowe's. Got them for 1/3 of the retail price 🙂 Getting them home 26 miles was interesting though. But I made it without issues.

I had yesterday off and spent it helping the builder. Basically trying to pat him on the *ss and keep him moving. We got a couple of interior walls up for the spare bedroom, closet, and bathroom. I cleaned all the scrap wood out, and swept the place. This morning stopped by and loaded my truck up to get rid of all the scrap. The DEC is a stickler for not burning it because they consider it construction debris, even though it's just clean scrap wood. I know someone that was ticketed last year for it and had to pay a 10k fine.

Full bed on the way to the dump

Few shots of the back of the house since I haven't shown that yet. Decks and porches still have to be built.

I like the general proportions of the house. Not too big, symmetry works. The slope of the lot was not obvious before. You really scored on that location.

Thanks. Pics are always hard to get the real feel of the property. These shots of back make it look really sloped but it's not that bad at all. From the back edge of our property to the back of the house is about 150' and it drops about 8'. So sloped, but not that steep.

Sounds perfect. Just right for drainage and spring thaw runoff, but not enough for erosion issues.

Played truck driver this morning. Had some of an old footer that we found, don't think it was from our old house, plus a few large stones and just wanted them gone. Borrowed a dump trailer and were able to load them up and take them down the road a few miles to a friend's house that was looking for hard fill. Unfortunately there are a couple more pieces in the back yard but I can't get the truck & trailer back there without getting stuck so that might have to wait until next summer. Plus, we'll need a larger excavator to lift those pieces. They are huge. We had trouble with one today... Looks much better with all that stuff gone out of the front yard. Oh and he framed in the sliding door and windows for the living room too.

This piece is about 18" thick, 6' long, L shaped with a 2' kickout. Had to weigh 3k pounds by itself...
