If the block hasn't been decked, the block deck will be stamped just in front of the passenger side head and that will tell you what it is and where it came from.

no i gotta look better. still cant see great from the surgery lol

I can't see as well as I used to and I figured out a trick for checking stuff like this out. If I can get my phone close enough to take a picture I can zoom in on the pic and read the numbers easier. Give it a try if you can get your phone in a spot to take a decent pic.

I'm just curious, since you're going with a crate engine and taking the accessory drive off of the current engine, what are you gonna do with the engine when you pull it out?

probably put it in the storage container at the shop. if its a 350 keep it but more than likely its a 305 and either part it (seems to have nice valve covers and such) or just hang on to it if it is a matching number engine i guess u never know...

Just a suggestion about the accessory drive system: my last car I went to the junk yard and pulled the entire serpentine system off of a 90' suburban and the a/c still had refrigerant in it! So I felt it was a perfect candidate. I got the whole set up(I pulled it) for $100! Power steering pump, a/c, water pump, alt, and the fan. I didn't use the fan because mine was electric but I went to advance auto, I had all my cores, and got all new stuff except the compressor and then, took the brackets and had them powder coated satin black. I painted the rest of the stuff and for about 450-500 altogether I had a beautiful serpentine set up. Just a suggestion. But make sure to grab everything. The reason why is I hated the original v belt set up and the brackets were so cumbersome in my opinion. and that alternator needs a resistor on the sensing side wire(brown wire I believe) or else you burn it up in a hurry. Ask me how I know....

So it got a little slow at work today so I started pulling out some stuff... shot fan, shot ac condensor, rest of AC stuff not gonna run , seized AC compressor, seized air pump, old coolant hoses, etc;

Do you mean a spring loaded belt tensioner? All of the 90's GM serpentine setups that I've ever seen have a spring loaded tensioner.
