I am literally giddy ( at 63 yrs haha) at acquiring an 85 GP Brougham with a 305.
I now have a very solid winter project for myself and grandson. My options are “streetable” blown sbc/ or bbc swap. 99% street driveable and show. Can an already low compression 305 be beefed up enough to run a Dyers 5% boost daily? Or go low compression 350?

Welcome from Melville, Sk. Set up the boost on the 305 and start building a 350 4 bolt main block. I am an Olds V8 guy and even I know the small bore 305 is a waste of time to build. Nice car except the rust hoarder top. I almost bought a 85 GP nearly 25 years back. Good luck.

The vinyl top is the worst of it for sure. Rusty under the chrome a bit.

The small bore is a concern, but the already low compression peaked my interest. Thx. Will fix body in the meantime and look for a decent 350/4bm engine. Just wanted something different.

Let him drive the 305 around so he doesnt kill himself or someone else

It has plenty of power for a newbie driver
We already have enough people who can't drive here, good point.
