It's slightly more backspace to compensate for the 8" width. They should fit nicely.
I have a hard time getting my head around the cross section to backspace ratio. There has to be a formula somewhere out there.....
If you do a 245 mm cross section tire like they claim they did (almost 10" approx.), an 8" rim is a bit over 200 mm. So 20-22 mm should be hanging out on either side, or approximately 13/16" or so. Nudge it to an inch to round off conservatively. Thus adding that to the backspacing you're looking at a total clearance from flange face to frame of about 5.5". Flange face to total front clearance would be 4.5" G-body wheel wells are fairly generous, but it also depends on your ride height and other factors. I would imagine 245s would fit fine. But I'm simply speculating. I've never had anything greater than 235/15's on a G with stock SSIII and they cleared just fine.I have a hard time getting my head around the cross section to backspace ratio. I’ve always really liked the Olds wheel. It looks to be a 2 piece. Is it? If not, I’m considering them for my customized Elco wagon, I’ve already got alot of Pontiac, Camaro , Buick, and Olds parts in it. A 2 piece is so hard to keep the seam clean with alot of miles put on between cleanings. I’d get the spokes gold/chrome powdercoated . Whats all your fitment numbers, backspace, offset ect. ?
That’s good. Couldn’t really tell from the picsNot 2 piece, they are 1 piece cast aluminum 17x8 4.5" backspace. They came with 1/4" spaces but did not use thm. The chrome platting flows from the hoop right to the center section, there is no crevice for smooge to build up unlike the OEM 14/15 inch SS2, SS3 Chrome plated steels.
