Hi all,

Here is my 1980 Oldsmobile Calais 442 W-30. I am the 3rd owner, purchased it Sept 2015, with only 71,000 km (42,600 miles) on body and about 6,000 km (3,600 miles) on the 1973 Olds 455 engine, built with mild cam and Edelbrock intake.

This is one of 886 1980 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 cars built: 540 in black and gold, 346 white and gold. It is 1 of 150 black ones with T-tops, sent to Canada (thus speedometer and odometer in km's).

1st owner repainted it in the 1990's and put GM body moldings on bottom, along with hood scoop and trunk spoiler from a 1983 Hurst/Olds as well as hood mounted additional Tach. Also the 1st owner had mounted 15" Weld racing rims on wider tires. The fronts would rub when turning a tight corner. When I bought the car in 2015, I switched the car back to the original and rare aluminum gold rims.

I found a 1979 Hurst/Olds dual gate shifter to mount in the console for more style and fun! Then badged the trunk with "hurst equipped" emblem.

Hey, guys. I realize this is an old thread, but wanted to introduce myself. This car is incoming to Toronto, for transshipment to Greensboro, NC, from Medicine Hat, where I bought it. Nicely preserved 110,550 km (~69,000 miles for American members!), no air nor T-Tops. It's been modified with a '70s-era 455 Olds engine, so not stock. Have the original wheels, and a set of decent tires, but will be installing US Mags Sabers, in 18" diameter. Also Vintage Air, a 4L60e, and Holley EFI. Weekend driver and cruise night warrior, not a high-performance conversion. We lived next door to one in Ottawa, owned by a couple from Weyburn, Saskatchewan, at the time. So it seems a few of these ended up on the Prairies!

Thanks, and I see Glen also lives in Winterpeg. Can't imagine there are too many cities that size that have two of these in running condition. Some accounts suggest that only about 200 of the original 855 (both white and black) survive.
