Great choice on the cam. Your motor should make a ton of power, sound really good idling and be very streetable. You can easily make that cam sound really wild or really tame with tuning.

If you're a small block guy, you've probably already noticed how much easier the Ls motor is to work on. My only complaint is the fact the heads have to come off to change the lifters. I suppose if I'm at that point I should just have the motor out anyways.

I used new LS7 lifters in my motor and so far, haven't had any issues. The general consensus seems to be they're a great lifter for the money.
If you haven't already, make sure to get new lifter trays/guides/cups (everyone calls them something different). Cheap insurance.
Sweet, thanks for the advice. When I brought the engine home it had lifter trays, I quickly tossed them and will get new ones.

Agreed, the LS is so much easier to work on so far compared to my old motor! The only finnicky thing I noticed was the care needed to get the front/rear set right. With tips from TEXAS82GP I used a metal framing square, and the Kent Moore front cover alignment tool he let me borrow to ensure everything was dead on!!!

I ran into the same thing with the front/rear & pan seals. Once I had the correct alignment tools, the worries of leaks went away. Still not a single drip. I'm not use to having a hotrod that doesn't leak engine or transmission fluid haha!

Welcome from Ohio. Nice looking car, is that the original color? Is that the Goodmark/ Gbodyparts hood?

Thank you,

The color is close to original but has more pearl. The gray is from a 2011 BMW, the silver is a from a 2014 Audi. Both colors covered very well.

The hood is a good mark. I was very impressed with the fit and finish of the hood.

Welcome to the forum. Very nice Cutlass. You did a great job on the build. Everything looks so clean. Have you had a chance to run it down the ¼ mile yet?

Thank you!! I had a great time building the car. I've made 4 - 1/4 mile passes so far.

Datalogged each pass. I ran the car leaving at idle, full exhaust, shifting at 5500, and logged 147kpa which is about 6.8lbs of boost and the car went 11.21@ 121. Timing at 147kpa was only 13 degrees. Car weighs a little over 3800lbs with me in it. I was please for the first outing and my own "garage tune".

Left the front swaybar on too which obviously doesn't let a car work when launching. There's a lot left in the motor and the suspension.

I didn't want to lean on the car too hardjust yet. I need to tune the suspension, then I'll start adding power via boost and timing. Once the suspension is really working good I'll bump the boost to 15, play with it there for a while then add my meth injection then periodically run between 20-25psi

I want the motor to live so I'm not planning to make many passes in the 20-25psi range.

That's pretty good for the first time on the strip with it. You'll definitely get faster the more you dial it in.

I'll make sure to post an update next time I'm at he track.

My initial plan was to have a heavy car than ran 10.50's and still be able to drive anywhere. Should be able to achieve that based on the low boost ET's.

I did leave a lot of power on the table by using a stock ls3 cam, but this isn't a max effort motor. Trying to do more with less I suppose.
