I had the hood open earlier just looking at what all I’m going to have to disconnect for the engine to come out and happened to notice the chalk marks on the firewall saying pace car. Not sure if all the pace cars were like this or just certain ones as I’ve not seen any under hood pictures of any others.

Ordered the full set of 1981 Buick service manuals, new brakes and some other misc items. Did get under the car with it up in the air and my wife on the brakes and transmission is shifting and seems ok doesn’t seem like there’s any issues there but really won’t know until it’s back on the ground but it’s atleast a good sign. It is a th350 so simple trans if there is a problem.

Went by the machine shop after work and tore the engine down. We are making progress. Does anyone know a good match to the original blue they painted the block with? It kinda reminds me of a Pontiac blue but darker

I am amazed the fabric color survived that well with the obvious outside storage and patina. The Dark Claret/maroon type colors don't like to be in the sun.

I am too usually they fade super bad. I am glad it’s in good shape though it’ll save me some cash on cosmetics right now

Unless it’s a Buick specific blue, it’s most likely “Corporate” blue. GM loved to slather all it’s engines in it after around 1972 or so.

Most of the spray can companies will have it on the shelf at your local automotive supply store.

Cool that looks like the color that’s on the valve covers. Just trying to keep a stock appearance with it
