Removed the tired 84-85 3.8 and what a joke they did on installing it. Only had two bellhousing bolts. Wrong motor mount bolts that were way to little so it would rock back and forth. Have a lot of clean up to do on wiring as far as relooming it and checking for damage and just a lot in general under the hood. Also unsure if some of my intake brackets will work as the cruise setup on the original engine is different than this newer engine

looks like you've got a good handle on what and when to do everything, look forward to seeing that car live again! I don't know if the cruise setup is the same for a standard 3.8, but I can get some pics of it on the wagon if you'd like... If I go with the 4.3 plan, you'd be welcome to the pieces.

I can’t wait to drive it my goal is to try and do atleast one cruise in this year with it, i have the standard 3.8 I have the original cruise control ball and mount but I think the bracket that the throttle cable and trans cable won’t work on it. I believe the brackets changed in 83-84. The engine I pulled out last night has the newer style cruise control

if I go to the shop I have the wagon at, I can get a couple pics, and see what I have. it is an 82, so hopefully I might have what you need for it.
I know it isn't much of a pic, but you might be able to see if some of it looks like what you need.

might be a couple weeks before I get to it (honey-do list keeps growing), but next time I'm out there, I'll grab what I can. pm me a list of
what pieces you need, and I'll make sure I won't need them for the 4.3 swap

Will do I’ll send a pm in a few, thank you!

Put the car back on the ground and rolled it out to pressure wash the engine bay. Looks much better getting a lot of the funk off. Ordered some new soldering iron tips. Got to get some wire loom and will start going through the harness and seeing what to repair.

Starting work under the hood today trying to start sorting this wiring mess and clean it up and figure out how I can run the vacuum lines neater once the motor is back in. I am doing some painting under the hood on the frame and all while the engine is out but I am stuck on the firewall. Part of me wants to paint but at the same time I don’t want to because of the original markings that are still very visible. What do you think guys paint or leave it alone? It doesn’t look to bad so I have no problem leaving it

Paint it and recreate markings if they mean something to you.
