Just started getting into the old Grand National Championship (NASCAR) history and came across this post. I have never seen a car like that and I have been into Buicks heavy for a while. That is awesome. I love the banner and the advertisement too. I think that you are doing a great job with the car and am looking forward to seeing it one day. Maybe you could bring it to Richard Clark's or Bowling Green when done. I would vote to keep the exterior like it is, maybe clear it and try to keep it as stock as possible, as at least as stock looking as possible. The 1 piece lower air dam looks great. Keep cleaning the pi$$ out of it. Keep the wheels and maybe upgrade the suspension and parts you can't see. That steering wheel looks different than most and the horn cap is OVER the top.
Oh and you NEED to get that original front plate somehow!

I only live about 45 minutes from Richards hoping to return to some Buick events next year as I haven’t been to any since losing my grand national in a house fire. I plan on updating the wheels to a GTA trans am wheel and the reason being is the original wheels are pretty much non existent and I don’t want to take a chance on having one get damaged. The horn button from what I’ve been told was installed on the festival cars as I’ve seen some with just the Buick medallion too.

And because they are so rare that is why I would keep them on. Maybe get them refinished. The fact that NO other car out there has those wheels is part of the uniqueness of the car IMHO. GTA's are a dime a dozen. Nice wheel but that car deserves something more rare. You are not rolling on 24's so I don't think that they would get damaged easily 🙂 You could even get Turbo T wheels and powdercoat them gold. I think that would look nice too. Here is a pic of the GTA's and your OEM side by side

And if you do get that front plate made please get me one too.

Another reason I like the gta wheel is it’s similar to the gold lace wheel on the actual pace car. I thought about a black or gray gta wheel but I think the gold gta wheel will set it off and mimic what they did on the actual pace car back in ‘81

Even though I love the look of the car and what it is. It drives me crazy that they put turbo six decals on a car that does not have a turbo six. I would love to put my engine setup in that car or at least the crappy draw though setup. I think the gold GTA wheels will look awesome on it. Did the actual pace car have a turbo six? If not, what was in that one for an engine?
