No air from vents

Hey guys. 78 Malibu. Originally AC car. I have a Non AC box and an AC head unit. My blower works on all speeds. All vaccuum doors seem to work. I can visually see the middle dash vent one working and also the door behind the glove box. The cable driven “hot/cold” lever door by the heater core works as well. I am getting no air flow from any of the vents on any setting. Thoughts?

How did you test the doors? I dont see any vaccum lines in the pictures that go to the controls.

The door in the picture is on a mechanical linkage that is controlled by the hot/cold lever. All other doors are controlled by a vac can that i tested with a vaccuum bleeder and/or can visually see the door working thru the vent. I cant tell for sure how the air goes from the fan box to the ductwork in the cabin? Unless its behind the small metal slot that sits behind the heater core?

So from what I can see.. when you removed the factory box that had the volute around the fan motor impeller, and this piece here you literally cut out the fan motors ability to push air into the vents.

Unless there's ducting in the back of that white part, the fan motor is just spinning not able to actually move air through the vents.

You still need the vaccum lines going from the engine to the controls which look to be missing in the pictures to move the doors.
Not knowing what the backside of the aftermarket piece looks like Built6spdMCSS may be correct also with the airflow.

If you mean the vac lines from manifold/vac reservoir. Yes they are there now but not at the time of these pics. Pics were just reference to see inside of box from last year when i had the box open / heat exchanger exposed.

Okay. Yes i think this is the issue. The fan is just free spinning in a hollow box / cannot move air. I am not sure what is needed to achieve this. Could you explain? FWIW I pulled the motor out and inserted my leaf blower thru the hole and could still not get air flow.

Well, basically when you installed that piece you literally cut out all of the needed ducting to where the motor could move air into the car. Unless there's some kind of kit that goes with it that has the volute to go around the impeller on that motor to go onto what's left there properly, yea nothing will work right.

I don't even see the hot/cold door anymore.

There was no kit with the piece. Just a hollow shell. What do you mean by volute? Is it just a round shroud that directs air towards the heater core?

Hot cold door is there.
