Now I understand why they pull the turbos

Buick v6's do have a history of wiping lobes. If the builder did not break the cam in correctly and run oil with zzp additive especially on startup the liklihood the cam lobe or two is wiped is high. They have a lackluster oiling system and flat tappet cams can be tricky. 10 hours is 10 times the time required to wipe a lobe.

Well I will do a few tests and I guess tear into the motor if that's what it comes to. To you recommend a cam lifter combo since I will be replacing it possibly

Maybe just pull the valve covers and roll the motor over and watch the rockers first. If you see rocker(s) with noticeably less lift then there are problems. Hopefully not. If the cam is wiped you probably need to inspect the bearings in the bottom end. Have you changed the oil filter yet? If not you could cut it open and look for metallic particles.

Today when I get home I will run the motor and remove one plug wire at a time so that maybe I might narrow down the problem a bit. Texas82GP your scaring me to death with that bottom end stuff. If I have to pull this motor, I will probably build the 4.1 I pulled out of a my regal and install a 200r 4 I have sitting here as well. Dang it....... Well I'll let you know what I find. Still looking for cam and lifter recommendations if you guys have any.

Don't mean to scare you but if the cam is wiped, the metal was disributed throughout the engine. Flat tappet cam break in is critical. If not done properly it is easy to end up with a wiped cam.

This is the cam i have. Mild and has a little lope, bigger lift but runs great. Smooth idle and still get good mileage.

But yeah if the cam is wiped it probably needs new bearings.

I had hard lesson a few years ago. Bought a engine kit from a shady place. It was supposed to be all new parts. After three hours of running it developed a lifter tick. Found later the cam was a regrind and lifters were some cheep crap. Cam ate the lifters. I pulled the engine to flush the metal out. Found scored cylinders and scored crank. Had to rehone the cylinders and have the crank polished. Learned my lesson! Hope it is in the carb. I would pull the valve covers just to be sure. You don't know what the other guy has done.

I'm no expert on those engines but it sounds low to me. Maybe valve adjustment?
