depends on what i am using the gasket on. never had a problem with rubber or cork. as long as there used in the right areas. i have a rubber pan gasket on mine. but cork and rtv valve cover gaskets because the rubbers didn't hide well. rubber leaks on uneven surfaces, when you have cheaper rubber gaskets. cork with some RTV is more forgiving.
