well looks like i got a baby coming some time this weekend. i really wanted to drop the 350 in this weekend. oh well looks like its on hold for a little bit.

A baby should be better than an engine swap. Bad thing is that it will be harder to do the swap when you have a kid, so make sure you get it done when the girl friend/ wife is in the hospital

hey "toolbox9" i'm in the process of doing the engine swap also in my g-body cutlass i read you where asking about the motor mounts...

look at my post on here.... it will answer your question...
congrats on the baby mine just arrived a month ago also in between engine swaps and i'm just getting back to it..lol

send me a pm when you get a chance i'm in houston, and also puuting in a sbc 350 in a 83 olds cutlass supreme......

My question is why you would pull a 380 ci? olds motor for a 350??? My 76 Olds 350 ran circles around my buddies Chevy 350 back in the day and I had a bigger car. Either way good luck, I just put a 350 chevy in my 82 because it was free.

hey thanks 83gcut. i dont know why the olds were so far back. at least i know now. also congrats on your new baby. i will prob get a little done this week cause i am taking a week off work. depends how the baby and wife are doing.

82cutty, mine had and old 330 in it. it needed a rebuild and i didnt see many parts for it. also the sbc 350 was free and i am on a very tight budget!!

congrats! mine just turned a year this week, and i can barely remember what it was like to not have her around!
kids are great, but a huge pain in the *ss in the beginning, just wait till she's a few months old and falls in love with you. that's when it gets to be rewarding

I just did this swap but took out the Buick V-6 for a 350 Chevy, Is that vortec heads I see? if so it's a good choice, yes monte carlo motor mounts and clam shells. Everyone told me I would have to have my A/C unit on the drivers side but I found a serpentine belt system out of a 89 Chevy truck with the A/C on the passenger side and all the brackets that I needed for a complete serpentine belt system, alt, water pump, power steering brackets If you got a good junkyard in the area it might help for this. With the serpentine belt system you'll have to have a reverse flow water pump because the belt turns it the opposite direction. Fuel line is on the wrong side, either run a new one along the passenger side or crossover under the frame in front.

i will only be running an alternator on mine. also the fuel rails are on the pasenger side already. i guess someone already moved them. i dont think i have vortec heads but not sure. how can i tell?

I'm not really sure, I always thought that the centerbolt valve covers always meant vortec heads but then someone told me I was wrong about that, So I really don't know for sure, I do know that the vortec heads alone add around 40HP
