Yeah, that is good stuff.

Todays update, getting very close to the end of the suck.

Today I made up the rear bar connectors.

First, measeure... Plan, remeasure and use the test bend to get an idea for length.

I bent the left side first, and used it as a template for the right side. Fit it up, and got it exactly like I wanted.

The rear bars will tie into the parachute bar and leave enough room for a future cell between them. Here is fitting and mock up.

I spent a couple hours on the fit and getting everything fit level, super tight and even. So it got welded in, after I pulled out the rear filler panel. Battery box is placed in position to see if it was serviceable.

I got really angry about burning myself and tipping the tungsten so I have 1 joint left on the left side of the last pic for tomorrow. I had to stop for the night. Once you are lying on your back trying to off hand tig and start swearing its time to stop, dipping the tungsten isn't cool.

On the upside, tomorrow I will hopefully have the door bars and dash bar welded in and can start on painting the cage... so it will be DONE!!!!

Why stop now? Build that funny car cage you know is in your heart.

No sir. I don't wanna do any more tube fab for a while.
For those of us who are clueless...
Dipping/tipping the tungsten???
When you dip the tungsten electrode in the weld puddle and it gets covered with metal so you have to stop and either change it or grind it clean.

Like this.

I am kidding of course. I've been watching Alex Taylor help her Dad build a jungle gym.

Awesome, but do not want.
