Time for the little blue bottle...
 
Well, what had happened was... I "thought" (1st problem) that I could just slide under there, undo the inspection cover, pull the bolts out of the converter, and see if the flexplate was cracked by sounding it with a hammer. No dice. Had to pull the starter, these stupid little engine to bellhousing braces, and started on the y-pipe. Then, I realized the inspection cover isn't going to give me the access I need easily, and I might as well just pull the whole f-ing thing. I really didn't want to blow it apart until i had an idea of what the hell is wrong first. I don't want be balls deep in disassembly, not have money to fix it, and it all over my garage.

Needed is one Fiero repair kit
Directions for use:
1. Park car in a open outdoor area
2. Remove match from packaging
3. Strike match on a rough surface
4. Drop lit match on seat
5. Walk away
Optional. Call fire department to put out fire
