Just a little update: I changed the towels out last night after about 2.5 hours, and the conditioner seems to work very well. I also changed my mind on the adhesive. While the Weldwood contact cement is very strong, I think it may be too thick? I have a can of 3M Super 90 in the cabinet that may get the nod.

So, the veneer softener worked some, but not as well as I had hoped. I did a 2nd application last night; we shall see how it goes. I scoped out my cabinet last night, and no Super 90, just 77. BUT, there was a can of Weldwood, so I got some disposable brushes and a laminate roller at the orange store last night.
