Our 79 Monte Carlo- Pro Touring Project

Car looks great! I wonder if that is still the 3/2 drop that the had before. Any vids of it this year?

Thanks guys for the positive comments 🙂 Glad you could stop by!

Update on the car:

The car attended its first event this past weekend and worked great. It was a ride along program where we give a two lap ride in the car around the autocross course. The course is pretty brutal, it is tight and has elevation change in it but the car survived with no issues doing over 300 laps. Pictures and videos are coming soon, they are working on them now so stay tuned!

The weather this past weekend was in the high 80's. We used distilled water with Water Wetter and 15% coolant with no heating issues. Even though the cooling system worked excellent we will eventually upgrade to a Wizard Cooling aluminum radiator and electric fans.

We attended the Syracuse Nationals this past weekend. The Green Machine ended up 3rd fastest on clock time out of 70 participants. This qualifier put us in the shootout on Sunday. We came up a bumper length short of winning the whole thing. What a blast!

Look for video and mechanical updates as soon as we recover...

That is a really great result and all you guys at UMI should be real proud of yourselves. I doubt there was much tweaking you can do with the car at the track so it must have set up perfectly with all your products at your shop. Did Ramey have the pleasure of driving it?

Ramey here. I happen to have been fortunate enough to run the Green Machine in the shootout. We also had Jerry's 4th Gen Camaro there which finished 4th with our Prez driving. Five UMI teammates got seat time in both cars. We all ran pretty well and also received some professional instruction from Brian Finch and Yancy Johns.

I'd recommend the Syracuse Nationals for huge seat time opportunities and a great environment put on by the American Street Car Series.

I must have been hiding under a rock while this car was being built! I really like the '78-80's for being the underdog of g-bodies.........and I really dig that green too!

We have a bunch of pictures coming. Here is a video of the Monte on the track at the Syracuse Nationals this past weekend. Brian Finch was driving in this video, he has a few autocross wins under his belt and we learned a lot riding with him.
