:? well i guess a 2.73 posi is better than the non posi i had in it. got the whole posi rear for 100 bucks tho, not too bad..

good to hear.. so im guessing ill have far better acceleration, and from what ive been reading, driving on the highway wont drink too much gas..

it depends on what you have now and the engine/transmission you have. I chose 3.08 gears cause I like them on the highway and with a stick they give me some long enough gears in the city to make me happy.

I have 2:78's in my Bonnewagon. Great highway mileage, and my trans has a 3:50 first gear to break it down for acceleration.

You're not limited to just 3.08 gears.

Gears like:

Which are made to be used with 2-series carriers.

Also, you can use:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MGR-075050/

with a set of regular 3-series ring and pinion set with a 2-series carrier.

Depending on the kind of deal you can get on a set of 3-series gears, either one may be a better deal.

I, personally, am running a 2-series posi carrier with a spacer and a normal 3.42:1 3-series ring and pinion set.

As stated, make sure to keep track of which side everything was on as it will not work the other way around.

well, looks like its time for me to find either a bigger axle housing or sell it. i reeeally shoulda realized this ahead of time, lol.

not too sure what to do here. the parts monte i just bought has a 7.5, i know it wont fit in there. the yard has 2 79 trans ams, but i dont think those will fit in the cutlass... someone else would charge me out the a$$ to give me just an empty 8.5 for a g body. this sucks. lol.

why not run the posi till you find something reasonably priced. That's what I did till I found the 8.2 I wanted
