So my grandpa's got a set of wheels that he's offered to give me, the only problem is, is I don't know if they'd fit. The information I was give was: the tires are 255 50 16, tires are 11 inches wide. The wheels have 6 inch bs and are 8 Inches wide. I asked about offset, and got backspacing. This is all the information I have, my question is, will they fit an 85 Monte SS with stock suspension? And if not, what do I need to do to get them to fit?

They look like f body rims. They will fit. I belive you have to use the ones marked front on the back of the g body and the rear on the front. Belive it is due to backspaceing

If those are 8 in rims they look to have less than 6 in back space. Not to disagree with Matt (I don't know if frt & rear are different B.S) but a 6 in backspace wheel won't on a G body

No, they aren't 6" b/s.

Looks like the same wheels I have just put on the El Camino I'm working on. Wheels are 16"X8" and are zero offset 4 1/2" b/s. I have 255/50 on the back. They fit but it's tight at the frame. Less than 1/4" clearance. I've got 225/55 on the front and they clear fine from what I can see so far.

I would start by verifying the actual backspace on the rims if they are 6" they will not work.
And make sure all 4 are the same B.S.

I'll repeat.
These wheels are not 6" backspace.
Since there is only one picture this could be a front rim from a F-body and if that is where the set is from the rears will have more backspace than the front and will not fit and even your rears I would consider spacing out I don't think less than a 1/4" frame to tire clearance is a safe operating distance IMO.

Pretty sure those style wheels were never made with 6" b/s in 16X8. They weren't all 4-1/2" but the photo of the one he shows looks identical on the outer side to the 4-1/2" b/s wheels I have. His photo does show the tire is a 255/50-16. I'm thinking that's not going to clear on the front. I didn't go that big for my front tires.

I was thinking that less than 1/4" on mine in the back might not be enough. I did jack each side up (one side at a time) and re-checked the clearance and the tires still did not hit the frame but I was wondering how much these rears might move side-to-side in actual driving conditions. I have stock rubber bushings in the control arms and stock arms with no boxing. I could go with 1/4" spacers and I have a new set of longer studs on my shelf already.
I have 225/55-16 on the front and I'm pretty sure I'm good to go there without spacers. The control arms on full turns are where the problems usually are (wheel edges) and that all checks out good. No problem with the tire shoulders at the frame at all either.
