My car started making this squeaky noise and it was just lightly aqueaking so I pushed it away from my mind.
But today got in my car it starts this noise and starts squeaking, to realize this in your heads, the squeaking is like two pieces of metal heavily rubbing but its a squeaking noise.
I hope you can hear it in the video, now the knocking has been going on for about 2 days and it was a light noise that would come and go so I was just like maybe something is loose so I parked it.
But as stated I drove it today cause my wife had to be at work and it was so bad my car died out once at a stop light then a generous man stopped and helped.
Then while driving to her work I could feel the car just shutting down almost just trying to die out so before it could I parked it at a hotel for a bit and recorded this to get information on this noise.

Just hoping its an easy fix like something loose or anything, But I need this problem assessed today so i can get up money to fix it if needed.
Or buy a new engine and pay to drop it in.

But here is the video, http://youtu.be/xb6UGjAqV5Y
Thank you all in advanced.

It is really hard for me to tell from the video but at some points it almost sounds like a lifter tap then sometimes it doesnt sound related to the engine at all but lets troubleshoot this. Where exactly is it coming from? Louder from the top of the engine or if you get down under it, is it louder? It changes with engine speed so it is attached to the engine or inside it. How is your oil pressure? Do you have an oil pressure gauge? Has the car lost power? Sorry I cannot be of more help but hopefully we can figure it out.

It seems to be louder on the outside above but it sounds about the same under as well., The oil stays around 20 to 30. I just had a oil change and tune up like a month ago.
It does increase the sound when i push the gas or speed up, it also increases the really loud grinding (is a better way to explain it) noise.
The car never loses power like earlier when it died out everything else cam on my radio lights everything just wouldn't start.

Sounds like its coming from the middle under the carb or on the side a little by the heads.

Under the intake and next to the heads is where the lifters are. Could very well be a bad lifter.

You just replaced the starter check the flex plate cover for contact with the converter or flex plate. Just a thought.

He gave you a good idea. Hopefully it is something small. If it were a lifter you would be looking at rebuilding the bad lifter and reinstalling. This requires removing the intake manifold, rockers, pushrods. Not a tough job just time consuming. Lets look at easier options first. Like what was posted above. Goodluck

Once I actually paid attention to the knock like very closely It sounds like it s coming from the front of the engine, Like around the belts and stuff.

sounds like a power steering pump to me.....remove your belts and start the engine again to see if the noise is still there
