Maybe the wheels are back spaced for a car that had drum brakes. .

I assume you have the stock dust cap on and does the wheel fit without the center cap. If it does maybe you need a different center cap

gp the wheel fits perfectly without the center cap. i cant find any that would fit the hole for the center cap is 2 1/4 inches only ones i find are 3 1/4 inches

is there any way to "modify" the dust cover so the center cap will fit?.

That looks like the old style cap. Try the later style. It's bigger inside.

if anyone has a 2 1/4 center cap that has a snap in back i need two to make it work post a pix of it so i can see if it can work
