BUILD THREAD Project long time coming

Not for nothing, a local guy to me (and you) builds these things. I believe that he puts an upgraded input and gear set in them. IIRC iut makes it stronger tha the Viper T56. Let me know if you want to contact him. It's not cheap, but my level of cheap is me bitchin' about $1500 worth of mods for a 4L80 lol. These T56's are on another level of expensive.

Let me know 😉

EDIT : and regarding a used one? Anything out of Camaro with 100k+ is a core. If it hasn't had the beJesus beat out of it, then you found the 1 out of a 100 that was treated like a baby.

Yeah, we usually owe taxes. Already did ours, owed $640 this year... better than usual.
So just tell the wise you left out a one when carrying numbers over.

Check note: paid IRS. I Receive Standard. See, references the trans and everything

Well not much to update on the new transmission, the local used one still isn't pulled from the car, I have a feeling the guy is going to flake on me. Found another one, 4 hour drive away, but it's a nearly new Tremec Magnum. Couple things sound sketchy though. Guy had it at a transmission shop, where I'd have to pick it up, but the shop won't say it is or isn't a good transmission... think I'll pass on that one. Still haven't pulled the trigger on the rebuilt unit in Texas.
In other news I got my old Muncie M21 out along with the MTS crossmember. Those of you that have been in the G body game long enough might remember them. They specialized in Cadillac 472 and 500 swap parts. They also were one of the first to offer a double hump crossmember. To say it's heavy duty is an understatement. LOL

You can see the fabricated spacer that moves the shifter out away from the tailshaft. That allows you to use straight threaded rod and rod ends on the linkage. Amazingly tight shifter feel.

Ahh, now I remember who it was that I got my original double hump crossmember from. Nice piece but not really crazy about how they set them up to mount to the frame. Still have it out in the garage.

Once upon a time I had one of those xmembers... no clue for the life of me where it's gotten to these days, done recall seeing it when we packed up the shop and barn I to containers for storage.

About 10 years back I had someone I let hang around some, worked on some cars there. Unfortunately, some things did seem to go "missing" back then - random pieces of gn window trim, a hot air turbo here or there. The stuff you don't really notice right away

You have an M21? And you want to put in a T56?

If yes and yes, then why? A double over trans - are you planning to run 160+ mph?

Yes and yes. LOL with a 25.5" tall tire and 3.42 gears, driving on the highway is horrible for any extended period of time. To keep up with traffic I'm cranking around 3500 rpm.... not planning on high speeds, but I need to drop the rpm's. I'd love to be able to drive it to the g body meet in Ohio, but I'm not going to go 60mph the whole way.
