BUILD THREAD Project long time coming

Nothing better than someone arguing with the dyno operator because their car doesn't make sh*t. I watched a guy with a BBC make 195whp and almost come to blows over it. Also seen the same BS with these Cummins truck dingleberries. I've put my car on the dyno one time, when I started laughing at a Hellcat guy, it almost turned ugly lol.

Something to keep in mind though, that Buick probably runs pretty decent, and yours runs alot better. Congrats Shawn. Where was the dyno at?
It was a mobile dyno on a trailer. Guy is from Watertown I guess. Local street racers "hired" him for a dyno day at one of their preferred shops in Cicero. Cost $100 for three pulls. Well worth it IMO

Oh and just to piss off a select few that hate LS swaps, here's a Buick GS Stage 1 455 that was run after mine. Pay close attention at the end for the dyno numbers. 🤣

And this guy was up just before me. He was NOT happy with his output. Literally had to shut my car off because he was still arguing with the dyno guy. I think he ended up around 217hp.

If you could go ahead and take that Olds dyno video off before the Olds people notice, that would be super. They get kinda testy about this torque vs. horsepower buisness. 😳

That Buick, not Olds, putting down that pittance is more of a slam towards the owner.

Most people are in the dark about 300hp, let alone a 300-400whp motor. 215whp feels pretty snotty, until you’re in something that make double to quadruple of that.

Those guys should just stay away from dyno’s lol.

What's typical driveline losses with a GM rear and 4 speed auto? I read somewhere 4L80 will lose 15hp relative to 4L60.

15% is considered the "average" for drivetrain loss in an automatic vehicle

Ok. I have to ask.... at 2:40 who screamed NO !!!
Lol 😆 🤣 😂
My wife rode with me -once- on an autocross course in her MB SL500. It was my fourth run of the day, so I was pretty "comfortable". The first "Oh sh*t!" was about about one second out of the gate, followed by a year's worth, with a couple of "Oh my GOD, we're going to turn over!" and a hearty "Let me out of this F**king car!!!" at the end, all in the course of 40 seconds or so. I was cackling the whole time, when I wasn't reassuring her that she wasn't going to die.

Alright, so I'm trying to figure out my game plan for next summer. I never seem to get as much done as I want, this year was an exception. Frankly I can't believe that not only could I drive it, but that I put that many miles on it.
Looking into a 4pt roll bar. Anyone have some experience, do's or dont's? Since this is mainly for 4 pt belts, should I both attaching it to the frame, or just go straight to the floor? I don't care about passing NHRA tech for whatever speed I'd need one at. How about belts and style of latching?

Best way is attaching to the frame. Obviously a lot harder. Rear bar has to be below your shoulders and above elbows. Since you aren't worried about legality, maybe do a bolt in setup. Tiger cage is one but it's $$$$$

Yeah I'm obviously just starting to do my research and figure out what I need, vs what I want.
