BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

That was a messy job (comical read too), Donovan, but it sure looks like it was worth it. What's the next step, epoxy primer?

Not quite yet Mike, but very soon. I’m going to treat the most heavily pitted and inaccessible areas with rust converter first to stop the reaction, then sand it, then epoxy in the areas that need to be re-seam sealed. Just like I did with the door jamb. THEN epoxy and paint.

I wouldn’t expect to see color on it just yet though, it would make more sense to wait until I have the rest of the jamb done and ready to shoot at the same time. Still, if all goes well, I could be to that point in a week’s time or so.

Thanks for the interest!

Nah, y’all can forget THAT $hit too!
😏

Ahhhhhh Brooklynese ,now that I understand!

Door looks a lot better than I would have expected from a Canadian car. Like hitting the lottery, eh?

Yeah, “eh”. 😏

Honestly, I think it has very little to do with the fact that it’s a “Canadian” car or not. I’ve been through the areas of Sandpoint and Cour d’ Alene to the north of you in March, and your road conditions aren’t really all that different than ours here in Alberta.

I firmly believe it has more to do with how the car was (or wasn’t) cared for during its DD use. If there was such a thing as a “typical” 38 year old car still on Alberta roads, I would say that, even with the rust damage this thing has incurred, it’s still above average.

Truth be told, I really just got lucky and caught it at the right time. Another year or two exposed to the elements and neglect, and the doors for sure would’ve been too far gone to save.

I just hope I get that fortunate with the driver’s door.

So was any of the battle fought on the other side of that door?🤔

Not since the initial preemptive strike that was carried out two weeks ago.
Our heros needed to establish a decisive victory and permanent foothold on the backside of the battleground first.

While a lot of the enemy was destroyed during that action, some of RUST’s most fanatical and hardcore rebels remained dug in, as seen in this earlier aerial reconnaissance (drone) photo:

Further strikes against these miscreants will be scheduled to be carried out as the military brass deems appropriate. Have no fear, we will be victorious!!!

Yeah, I’m just having WAAAY too much fun with this...!!
😅

 lovin' it man!

keep it comin!:friday:
