BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

How come the pig isn't as shiny as the rest?

Basically because the pumpkin center section is cast iron and very porous. The whole thing was gone over with a cup wire brush on the angle grinder, and it doesn’t make the cast areas as shiny because it’s rough. The axle tubes and the brackets are smooth to begin with so they come up shinier.

You can do, put your back into it!

Yeaheee yeeeaahah!

Take some rags soaked in evaporust. Tape up around the seals and lay the rags around on the pumpkin contacting as much area as possible. Tape up plastic trash bags around it to keep it from evaporating. Let it set for several hours. I'll bet that will clean it up. Take a cup brush to it afterwards, paint it the color you like or simply satin clear it to keep it "natural", and I bet it'll come out nice.

Just thinking out loud here.

You know you're gonna lose sleep over that and the stuff you can't reach. I used a sandblaster for the inside of my shackles when I cleaned the frame on my dually.

Too late...

Not really, I was pretty thorough with it yesterday and I’m using POR15 for the paint. So any little bit of leftover surface rust won’t necessarily be a bad thing.

First coat, second going on right now before I head over to Mike’s to work on his ‘57 Chevy:

Fixed that for you.
Baby steps mike, baby steps. Don't push the baby down the stairs just for them to go down the stairs faster. In time my angry friend... in time....

Others please g-nore my friend here. He has an obsession that if it isn't 600 hp, with turbos or SC then it's not worthwhile....... CDN Gov't will ideally place him in counselling once his next build is done. Or give him a really big gun to help him self-resolve the inner anger. Either way he will get to his "sessions" fast with tires blazing. Thank goodness he has a couple of daughters to keep him quasi-grounded

We now resume to our regular scheduled programming
