Re: New Project Car, Need some input

The plus side of getting this car is you dont have to wait for a donor car because just about every panel and body supports are available aftermarket. Id get that car and start the list of parts youll need to bring it back to its glory.

The list has already started. I sent him a text and I will be buying the car. I will be paying for it around christmas and will be picking it up sometime in January. I have to trailer it from CT to PA, a buddy of mine work has no problem trailering it for me. Thanks for the input guys!

Approved! I always thought the late 70s Z28s were pretty cool and you just don't see them much anymore. The fender flares and the scoop were actually pretty tasteful in the context of the era. Looked good then and still do today. I'll be watching this one.

Thanks driven. Ya, me too, I always like the late z28s. I always wanted one, and to be honest I was jealous of him when he bought this car back in 2002 and I had already had my cutlass. Now that Im buying it off him, I would never have thought that would happen.

I will keep everyone updated when I get digging into it. I should be picking it up in the next 1- 1 1/2 months. and I will probably start buying parts now.

Re: New Project Car, Need some input

I think it's a great project & can't wait to see what you do with it. I'm kind of skeptical about the wife liking it though...
I already tried getting 2 females into older Gm stuff w no response. They pretended to like it at first but when the car was ready to drive 'oh I dont trust that car' or 'I just cant drive the car knowing how rusty it looked when you picked it up' lol

Anyway if your wife really does appreciate old gm's shes a keeper then +++

Well last saturday I made a trip up to CT with a co-worker and towed it back. I was able to get the car for $700. Come to find out he has a new Accell Distributor in it, newer edelbrock carb, edelbrock intake, TCI th-350 with 20 miles, power master hi-torque starter, Summit Racing pro-street balancer....I say it was worth it considering the parts he put in it.

I will get some more pictures of it this weekend. and I will keep this updated as I progress on the car....I edited this to change the subject Title.

She actually wants a '57 Chevy, but I dont have the pocket for that kind of car. they was over $1500 for a rotted shell....What really surprised me is SHE said "lets go to the junk yard this weekend". And this is the girl that said I will never go there with you. Now she has a reason because the last time I was there about a month ago they had 2 of these cars, non Z-28 but the parts are the same. Shes definitely a keeper.

Re: New Project Car, Need some input

You know we'll be requiring more pics now that you have the car in your possession, right? Hopefully you'll have good weather for your wife's first trip to the yard. Sunny day + a couple good parts scores = stoked wife. Stoked wife = project success.

Careful with taking the mrs to the junkyard, I took the miss to one while on a parts search for her old car, she saw a different car that she really liked. This lead to another project, and three more cars in my driveway  , be careful what you wish for, lol. Looks like a good project for a fair price though.
