Glad to see you got the car home and the car looks like its in pretty good shape. Ill be following this thread.

Well since I got the car home Ive been working on getting it running. It was turning over really slow, then solenoid clicks. Kind of like a bad ground. The battery was good. But still nothing. I put a new ground wire to the block from battery because he had it going alternator bracket, then the ground from the back of the head to the firewall was disconnected so I reconnected that. It was still turning over slow and had me going nuts. I tried jumping it and still nothing, so i started thinking this new Powermaster starter is shot......Then I looked at his battery and it was a Marine Deep Cycle, with 405 cold cranking amps. Guess I shouldve noticed that.

So it cranks now but wont start, I got a carb rebuild kit coming in today. The carb is already taken apart and cleaned. So i decided to go over his valve adjustment because he had trouble with it when he "rebuilt" the engine 6-7 years ago.....Well he had about 7 valves with 2-3 turns preload, 4 with no preload, not even zero lash and they were completely loose, the read had about 3/4-1 turn....I put new adjusting nuts on and gave them all 3/4 turn.

Should run like a champ tonight. Unlike sounding like an airplane running on 3 cylinders when it did actually start the other day..

Here are some better pictures of the interior. Need some work but nothing major. I will be removing the shifter to install the stock one back in. The one in it is a B&M Ratchet. she doesnt need to be messing with that.

We went to the junk yard on saturday and it was a complete bust. Every vehicle was picked over, nothing good. I was looking for parts for my s10, her Jeep and both "toy" cars. They only had 1 camaro this style and it was just a rotted shell. Maybe another time.

Well its official. The cutlass is now sitting outside and the camaro is backed into the garage for me to work on it. I plan on pulling the rear completely out of the car to repair the passenger frame rail.

But my question is how to support the car on jack stands considering the car is a unibody and I will be cutting out the frame. I have a couple ideas for jack stands, and ideas on bracing to keep it from twisting.

What would you do?

Add bracing to the internal structure by welding in some supports; you could also add a separate structure underneath with some wheels so that it can roll around. I replaced a bunch of sheet metal on my f-body, I'll post the link (long, lots of pictures) if you are interested.

Ya that kind of like what I was going to do. Sure I would like to see some pictures to give me an idea....A buddy of mine said "just put the jack stands on the pinch welds, youll be fine.". That would work if I dont mind the body twisting.

Sure, here's my build on lat-g. Let me know if you have any questions. There's also a cool build on an early 80's Z28 on that site.

These cars were my very first loves! I have had 4 of them and I just go nuts when I see them! I still wont throw out my Year One book that I purchased parts from way back in the 80's.

I came across this ad on craigslist and thought i needed to share it with you. Seems to be a well organized shop for parts. I almost wish I had a Camaro to go there and rummage around in
