Anyone know a trick to keep new chrome lug nuts and exhaust tips to keep from rusting out in a year?

The most important thing is to buy quality stuff. Sure, $100 seems crazy for a set of tips when you can go to the local exhaust shop and get some chrome tips for $20, but you get what you pay for. However, you can help keep even cheaper stuff looking nice by waxing them. When you wash / wax your car, wax your rims, lug nuts, and tips as well. This will also make it easier to clean your rims next time.
A good OTC product for something like this would be a synthetic sealant like Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0 because a sealant will last longer thn a true carnauba wax.
