I recall seeing bad things about those.
The Halo is much disputed amongst Ols guys.I can't see a downside to it, especially on a window block.
My only experience is this: when I gave it to Trimble, he didn't say "NO". That's on a steel 425 crank offset to BBC rod journals, 455 stock stroke in a 455 F block.
See if you can get ahold of a J&S Machine piece. Jim's an old hippie; he a trip.


I wanted his and spoke with him for a while today.

He no longer makes the 4 main halo
 
Other companys make them for the Olds engines but you have to machine the main caps.

I'll talk to my machinist after work today see what he says

Its not necessary for a 300/300 engine but I like overkill
 
I'm pretty sure you need to machine the caps flat for any of them. It's not the end of the world; any competent machinist should be able to handle it. Just make sure it's all done before the align bore.

J&S didnt need machining hich is why i wanted it.

The PRW one uses spacers which was another turnoff
