I believe those pistons have a taller compression height and you can probably live with the .001" difference in bore size. Consider a better cam, you will have 9.25 to 1 minimum. Even the the factory 350 manual trans/455/auto 442 cam would be better. Supercars Unlimited does a version. It is 216/217 duration, 472/.472 on a 113 LSA. I run a 214/214 .472/.472 on a 110 LSA from Cutlassefi, very mild in my 350. BTW, if I hadn't collected all the parts I have I would go with a 4" stroke Olds 350. Stronger and lighter than the 330 crank in 5140 or 4340 billet steel, same ci in a much stronger package. Too bad I am across the border, I have a 330 crank in good shape, it should not need anything other than balancing, .010" rods and .020" mains and flex plate. With the new 4" crank, I can't see me using it for anything in the future. Smitty at M+J Performance, J+S and BTR should have a core. They probably don't even know the 4" SBO crank exist. I know they use the best cores to offset grind, which make sense. Smitty sent my 3.5" 330 crank, his core to Ohio crank to offset grind. It needs to be standard on the rods to offset grind is my understanding. Sounds like a nice build coming together. I believe those KB pistons are about 50 grams lighter and have a more modern ring pack. I was going to suggest them, just know your block is .040" and they are technically .039". Both sizes run a 460 ring pack, which why the weird bore size. My pistons are also that size, except forged, shorter compression height on 2" journal sbc Scat 6" rods for the 3.5" stroke.

Mine will be 424.

That will be totally cool. I just don't understand it myself when a minimum of 455 is available. If stroking is the desire, then how much is too much? Unless something about the setup allows it to rev past 7000 or the setup is significantly stronger allowing BOOST or Nitrous in large amounts.

Although hiding 424 inches in a SBO package is very deceptive (aka 'a good thing')

If it just about being different, then that is the best excuse that can be used. I am very good with different. VERY good.

Chuck Powell in Ohio has a beautiful G Cutlass running a 440 DX SBO- 10.70s all day long.

There's nothing wrong with the 403; somewhere it picked up a bad rap. Dr. Dan Macal has run one for many years in is H/O going 11.80s on a Q-jet. Jim from J&S had one in his 70 going 11.40s. Prop Joe in Chi-town goes 12.80s on a Q-jet with AC and cruise. None of these builds are anything exotic, either; just well thought out with off the shelf parts. They're all iron-headed, too.

Yes, but now I may just go with the full girdle setup with the pan rails and modified oil pan.

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"It's just a cruiser"

PTR called me back this morning

He said he is out of the girdle and isnt making them anymore.

I asked him if he thought it was necessary on a 325/300 403.

His response was you should just buy my SBO 370..............

Now thats great service!! :blam:

The 455 builds seem to fail fairly often, especially under power. I say it is 3" main bearings and a very heavy rotating assembly plus big torque numbers. These 4" stroker crank builds start at 400+ hp and 500+ ft/lbs on mild iron head builds.

I imagine Bill is doing less Olds all the time. With the new Rocket Racing block, probably just not necessary for girdles for anyone building anything serious. I would say your 403 with any cam will be 325hp and 400 ft/lbs. Is that second number torque? They put out 320 ft/lbs bone stock. That is a peanut cam, 7.8 to 1 if lucky and awful exhaust.
