A friend of mine bought a set of shaft rockers for his race motor and toasted them in about 20 nights. Theyre response was " they arent intended for race applications"..... a shaft rocker set..

I plan on using the longer Ford studs with the 5 main Halo. I don't agree with removing 1/2" off the caps and replacing it with a girdle. Removing as little a possible is the way to go in my books. My understanding is the oil pan will still fit.

Yes, but now I may just go with the full girdle setup with the pan rails and modified oil pan.

Let me know how that full girdle set works. Who's are you looking at? None of them seem super interesting to me. If you end up not overly excited I might just do engineerding things and design/build my own.

I have a 425 crank and a line on a DX block that needs to hold up to 20ish PSI for my next build so I am keeping a spreadsheet of things to hunt down 🙂

Someone made 4 bolt main caps but I cant find who that was at this time.

Anything like this doesnt look like it helps that much.

It might help the block from twisting slightly but unless you tie it into the pan rails somehow I dont see what its doing much. There is very little up/down rigidity on each cap by adding that girdle. I know they say you gain a lot of strength by butting the lid on a shoe box, but if you took one of those main caps off (like #3) and pushed down with a few hundred pounds, I wouldnt be surprised if it didnt move .010-.030. If there was a vertical beam welded in going down, it would likely help, but a flat sheet with that much cut out has squat for perpendicular load resilience.

And again, im calling BS on you "Just a cruiser", cruiser my arse (since the actual word is naughty and banned) 😛
