Rear speakers 4x10

I have always preferred to notch the rear deck so a 6 x 9 can fit flush underneath it without clearance issues with the trunk bars and I also open up the top of the deck to get better sound out of the 6 x 9, but then again I like to cut stuff.

6x9 adapters here, 6" up front, 10" Sub in trunk, 600W (Speakers) and 200W (Sub) amps.

Very happy with it.

I have 4 x 10's in back of my wagon....and I agree, they suck. I was thinking of going with 6 x 9's but will have to check for magnet clearance over the wheelwells.

Are they relatively new 4X10 or old ones?

My wagon was radio delete from the factory and had an aftermarket radio put in. I tried putting new 4x10's in and the magnets are too tall and hit the inner fenders.

Curious if they are "newer" 4x10's how you got them to fit.

Jake,
They are aftermarket speakers that I bought from a member years back. Did you try to install them in the original factory location? I'll have to pull one out and get back to you regarding clearance of the magnets, etc.. II'm sure the original OEM speakers had shallower magnets. I don't have the old ones to compare.

We have a set of Kicker 4x10's that work quite well and sound good too. We put kickers in the dash as well. Powered by a double DIN (low budget) Sony. They sound great in a parking lot and can actually be heard when driving considering 4" oval exhaust sticking out from under the door lol.

The Kickers were reasonably priced and I can't complain. But they definitely are not 'sound war' worthy with a pack of ricers with neon lights.

I have a good story though about going up against a ricer 'sound war' situation with the Cutty.
