Pretty easy fix. Took some pics a while back. You can see the parts on the floor to take out. When you get to the point of pulling the top off, use a razor knife to cut the seam sealer along the firewall and use a screwdriver to gently work it free. Be nice to it it's old and will crack easy. There are some bolts down inside, make sure you get them all before ya start pryin. Put a fresh coat of seam sealer or silicone on when your back together.Hope this helps.

the thing is that when that motor was made back then, they couldnt see the advancements of the future, these days its known that starting from the outside in can damage the manifold. thats why todays manuals show that.

I'm sorry but that's just complete BS. Show me the manual that tells you to start with the center bolts and work your way out on and Olds engine...

I've NEVER had an issue with cracking an intake because of using the FACTORY torque sequence. However there are PLENTY of people that had to remove their intake and retorque them because they torqued them down the way you describe and the manifold didn't seal.

What can I use to tighten up my heater control valve I was checking for leaks and so some coolant leaking from there looks like I didnt tighten the heater control valve down enough when i had the intake off. I basically just screwed it in as tight as i could by hand but i think it made need one more turn so it wont leak. Do i need to take the intake off to tighten it more??? What can I do to tighten it??

Your right it was pretty easy to do. Right now I got the top off and heater core out and was wondering what is that door behind the heater core is it supposed to be open or closed? My air stopped blowing out of my vents awhile ago and I was wondering if this had anything to do with that.

So I ran into problems with the new heater core. Seems like the new one I bought from Autozone is made a little different from the old one. The new one has to tubes where the heater hoses connect too far apart so one of the tubes end up right behind the trans dipstick. Anyone else ever had a problem like this? Who would have the correct heater core? If all else fails I will check Gm but im pretty sure it will be more expensive there.

you can move the dipstick tube over a bit to give you the clearance you need

Did you mean to just push it to the side so I.can get the hose on?
