I agree on getting the IAS shocks. I used a set years ago on my Olds Bravada and really liked them.
2 weeks ago I put a set (4) on my 83 Wagon due to damaging my new Gabriel VST shocks in a pothole:evil: .
These suckers are beefy, kinda tricky getting the front ones in since they are twice the diameter of the ones that came out.
The handling was like night and day between the 2.
I don't agree on the progressive spring assessment.
The springs are supporting 100% of the weight 100% of the time. The different spaced coils just react to the load differently along it's full length.
I have run both. A progressive spring "acts" like a stock type spring under lite load but getting "siffer" the more it is compressed.
You get he best of both worlds.
I also feel if you are "riding on the jounce stops" something is very wrong.
If you lower the car you might want to trim or replace the stops with shorter ones to get some travel back.
We are talking about a street car, right?
My Wagon has MOOG cargo type spring on the back and standard type on the front.
It has beefier bars, poly bushings, all F41 braces etc etc.
It has nice firm ride on smooth road while cruising at speed and can handle a curve like you would not believe.
Still doing some tweaking but am real close to finding a perfect balance, comfort vs handling.
My "perfect" may not be the same as "yours".
