Ribbon or tube urethane for back glass?

X2 on the urethane caulk. It's much stronger than the butyl tape.

Almost all glass shops only use the tubed urethane. Another thing you might need is the primer they use if the surface is fresh paint. Any auto body supply shop should have it. I use Transtar p/n 4406 pinchweld & glass bond primer. Transtar also has a good urethane, or use 3M's.

Have you guys done this project yet? I've been watching YouTube videos where they use a dam to block urethane from getting inside too far of rear glass a,d to also set the height of how the glass sits.... Anyone done this? I'm needing to since I have found a leak

Use the tube urethane for the windshields, ribbon for the quarter windows.

My glass guy installed it with the tube urethane for both front and rear windows. He applied a primer/bonding agent before putting the bead down.

What is "ribbon" anyway?

It's butyl tape, in comes in a roll and available in different thicknesses. It is the old fanshion way to attach windshields to cars and was outdated and its use was in decline by the 80s. The rear quarter windows on G bodies use butyl tape because they are not load bearing members like the front and rear windshields.
