its easy to get done quickly when you plan ahead and purchase ahead. Plus Ive been motivated to get it done by next weekend due to the opening of car show season here in central ky. Unfortunately Im going to miss that deadline by about a week and half as I have to install all the suspension components after paint. Fedex sent me a tracking number and my paint should be here Tuesday. So tomorrow some more prep work will take place, then primer towards the middle of the week and hopefully paint towards the end of the week. Im keeping my fingers crossed on that though.

April 11th 2009 Update with Pics

Another beautiful day after the severe weather outbreak we had yesterday, I made up for lost time today and did a little bit of work on GNX-SS.
I primed and painted the chrome bumpers on the 1986 regal in Satin Black and also painted the turn signal bezels while I was at it.
I installed the fender flare welting onto all the fender flares and had some left over and decided to use it to fill the gap between the trunk and
the spoiler that I had, worked perfectly by the way. Then I was able to lay a little filler in the doors where it was needed. That should be the last
of the major body work before the final prime and prep next week. Then I was able to paint the driver front fender flare and install it back. Enjoy
the pics.

what happened to the powder coated bumpers?

did you have to do any bodywork besides the door you were talking about? if not, lucky you! My car is pretty straight, but i still had a lil bodywork to do...fill a couple dents, didn't have to pull any, the roof where the vinyl top went is the biggest area that involved the most work. what kind of paint and primer are you using? how come you are installing the flares already? aren't you gonna paint the car first? or are you just mocking them up and then taking them off before you paint? your making great progress and at a fast pace, you doin it all at your house? I notice all the pics are outside in the yard

Hey 2000, no powder coat, that fell through unfortunately.

Hey 350, Im using acrylic enamel with synthetic urethane primer, ordered it from paintforcars.com. Ive used their products before with great success except for this primer I got. The primer is supposedly non-sanding, we'll see how that goes. And yes, the fender flares are just mocked up right now, they, along with the spoiler ,will be removed before priming and painting. Yes, the only other body work I had to do was on the driver side rear quarter and that wasnt much at all. The work is done all at my house in the back yard and the garage.

Great progress! I hope yours goes smoother than mine did. I hope to see some paint on it soon.

great progress indeed, this car is going together quickly. nice work

April 18th, Paint is on!!!! More pics to follow

Well, A lot was accomplished today, the paint is finally done, all except for the one run that I alwys seem to pull off, but no biggie. These three pics are low quality I know, and they were taken right after the final coat was applied.
Enjoy the pics, and there will be more to come asap. Finally assembly will begin in a few days if not tomorrow.
