Rubber liners on gas tank straps????

I used heat shrink (big), I've used inner tubes before also.

I used industrial shelving liner. But the answer is no it doesn’t hurt to use something on the g-body’s.

I say it can't hurt, but can certainly make it better (unless you are building concours restoration). I just actually added some leftover cork-rubber gasket material to the reinstall of the tank in my Pinto project a couple of weeks ago.

Unless I had to, like in-tank pumps, I wouldn't use anything on the straps or tank. Rubber, or any other like material, can catch mud/dirt, etc., up in the crevices and potentially cause corrosion (think vinyl tops) over time. But it's your issue, not mine. You do you.

Originally mine 87SS did not have the rubber strips. The Chevrolet Parts and Illustration Catalog 1982-1988 doesn't show any isolator.
