I dont see months more like years and i have alot of parts already plus a parts car. I got all the glass out the channels look alot better then i thought some pitted metal bottom of front windshield. As far as i can tell all the rust is in the floors/trunk wheel well area. The pass torque box is pitted but no holes after poking the crap out of it. Im not goin for a show car. Id just like to drive it for some years after im done.

This was the worse drivers. A pillar I imagine this is what did the floor in.i have the a pillars from my parts car but im not sure i want to replace it. I think ill dig deeper tommorow to see how bad it really is.

I also pulled the column, hood, trunklid, and some of the dash. Im planning on pulling the doors , dash , and doghouse.

The car has rust free fenders, rockers, and doors. I have the qtrs already just havent decided how much to replace. I also have 2 sets of fenders an extra set of doors a mint nose off the parts car. I know im in over my head but im gonna put the time in. I just dont wanna go too far. I plan on driving this daily(summer will garage in winter) eventually. Thanks everyone for the advice.

If i want to seperate frame from body should i do the floor repair first? Or seperate, then fix the floor and inner wheel wells/trunk. Im not sure about bracing etc.. Im guessing more reading is in order.

Support/brace the body side to side since a good portion of the floor/structure is gone

Then check to see if the frame is rotted

Thanks for the reply/help. I have about 4 8 ft sections of 2x2 angle iron. Should i weld 1 in across were the dash would be. Then another towards the top and rear of the door? Am i most woried about the body twisting or becoming wider or both? Im searchin the forums to see if i can find my "blueprint".

Keep going when your commited by feelings to this car! You are the only chance for this gee🤷‍♂️ Save her!

Without us "Gbody clunker saviours" we`ll all cruise around with E-cars and ricers someday and showing our kids a Gbody only on a tablet:rolleyes: Think of it...

If your floors are that bad it is typically from the firewall rusting through at the wiper motor drain on the left side. The right side is from the seam sealer cracking around the HVAC box allowing water to enter where it attaches to the firewall. Make sure the firewall isn't rusted at the HVAC opening as I have seen several years of them do that.

Thanks for that. You answered 2 questions ive had for about a year. My pass side developed a slight leak if i drove in the rain last summer. The driver side has me a little worried. Im workin on the dash now. Note for beginners* when taking a column out put A. Make sure you disconnect the linkage B. Make sure the arm will fit thru its slot i had to put it in neutral C. Put the park brake on. Thanks for the gnvair and all. Ill post an update tonight and try to get a plan together on how / were to start the metal work.
