hey guys, for the third time, im having problems with my new engine.
this time, my sbc turns into a 5 cylinder because my spark plugs get oiled up. (atleast thats what i think it is)
a few days ago this happened; i was driving around for just 10 minutes. when i drove out off town i had a backfire, followed by a second. after that, i lost all power. i couldnt even drive away when the lights turned green.
so i parked my car, waited 5 minutes to understand what happened.
then i started him again, and everything was al normal again. i went home and inspected the spark plugs... al wet.
was the backfire caused by failing spark plugs? i inspected the viton teflon valve seals and they were ok. im 100% sure my intake gasket is doing its job and my compression is still good. (10:1) but the heads i have installed have the rocker stud bolt holes drilled up into the air intake port, and i didn't seal them.
i also have to refill the engine with oil every 200 miles (5w30)
feel free to give me advice

Did you have trouble starting your car before this event happened?

Yes. your backfire issue is most likely from your fouled plugs.

and if you have to REfill the oil very often, then thats your maybe your cause for fouled plugs due to a leak or its using too much of something. your probably running rich also.. are u??

You didn't say whether the plugs were fouled from gas or oil. If it's gas ( you can easily smell it), it could be that your carburetor is dumping too much fuel. High (or stuck) float level, needle and seat, jetted too rich...
If it's oil, it could be valve seals, guides, rings. Is it burning oil?...excessive blue smoke out of the exhaust.
How is the condition of your ignition system? Coil, wires, distributor, timing, etc. Vacuum leaks?
Just a few things to go over.

sounds like the ignition module to me...it might have shut down due to overheating and that could be caused by the coil. When you parked the car it cooled down and reset

Its probably pretty safe to say that his plugs are being fouled from excessive oil blow-by, since he is topping his oil off every 200 miles

You say this is a new engine ... and its using that much oil :?: You most definitely have a serious leak or those rings are not seating

Answer some questions for us please. What do you mean you have to refill the oil? All of it or just top it off? Secondly how do you know your compression is good? Did you hook up a compression gauge to each cylinder? Do all the plugs oil foul or just a couple. You should use some type of sealer on the rocker studs that go all the way through. The way you make it sound I would have to agree with Ritter and say you have some ring issues and lots and lots of oil burning going on.

a brand new MSD 6-al? i already looked at the pro billet distributor (wich was already worn and coroded).
i personally think it's beacause the backfires continue to excist after the first, i was almost driving with WOT wich feeded the backfires in the exhaust manifold until i parked, the exhaust cooled down and the backfiring stopped
