Sellers and Ebay Disgust Me

I have the matching flywheel you can use as a gas pedal.
That should work nicely while doing a burnout, it'll be large enough to cover the brake pedal as I mash the accelerator. This will free up my left foot so I can search for the clutch pedal my GN doesn't have. 😆

Some great points!! And what's this new payment program starting in June??
Ebay is trying to bring payments back in house, plus add Apple Pay, Google Pay and a few others as ways for buyers to be able to pay. It has already started purely based on sellers stats, but everybody will be on it in June. I do use it so far I like it and is a couple less steps than using PayPal.

Its not just ebay sellers who consolidating part applications. Replacement part manufacturers , both aftermarket and OEM have been pulling this for years. Often they will lie and say a base model spec part will fit a performance sub model.
Seems like this would cost these companies or "sellers" a fortune in return costs

Thanks for explaining! pretty soon they will make it so easy to pay, you will have paid for something before purchasing it lol

A lot of people don't know better which a lot of companies rely on. Sometimes the wrong parts will still fit but the specs are still off and will under perform. Fram PCV valves are the wrong spec for MCSSs, they flow too much and lean the mixture out a little. Most aftermarket EGR valves have the improper rate return springs. Some cheap Qjet rebuild kits have incorrect parts like gaskets missing the idle air bypass hole, etc. Consolidating parts is a way to cut costs.

A big one for me always was the confusion between the Olds 307 Code Y and Code 9 engines. Then there's the roller/non roller 85s. One time I had a buddy ask me to take a look at his 85 Cutlass Supreme Brougham, he brought it to a chain for a tune up (yikes!). It was running really rough. Turns out the used the plugs for the 7A head 307 in the 5A heads. He's lucky he didn't do any permanent damage as those plugs had much longer threads.

Scary stuff! And besides, most of those "chain stores" (That I REFUSE to go to) most of the employees know nothing about cars and could care less anyway, most aren't there for over a two week average anyway. If you care about your ride, don't take it to one of these places!

You have to remember alot of these gm parts started out with an external dimensionally the same piece that then got some specialized tweaks and minor pieces added on.

Aftermarket parts company sees specs between a couple part numbers and stops offering 7 different ones, consolidates it as a single generic part and part number.

It gets worse as 40 years goes by and the process happens 2 or 3 times.

Then they move production to China.
