Series 2 and 3 rears

I'm not an SS expert but IIRC the 3.42s were 3spd and 3.73s had overdrive transmissions -- whatever year that transition was.

I would leave it alone. You will never notice a difference from 3.23 to 3.42.

Looks like the 3:23 rear stays. I just came in from fighting with one of the new UMI bushings. What a pain in the *ss. I did the pair in the Moser thats in my 81 under the car. Crazy as it sounds I think they were easier.

The 3.23's will work great if, repeat if, your tire size is close to stock or a we bit taller. After that, I'm some other posters - 3.42's and 3.73's need an overdrive unless you're running a 28+" tire.

i have 3.23 in my El Camino, been happy about it since the day I did it 60,000 miles ago.
