Ok , so if it is a 350, it needs vacuum to the modulator. Sometimes the rubber line falls off or the rubber gets brittle and splits. When you get under there, if the rubber line is connected to the modulator, pull it off . If any transmission fluid is visible, the diaphragm in the modulator is bad. Replace the modulator. No signs of fluid, start your engine and put your finger on the line to see if you have vacuum. No vacuum, check up top on the intake manifold. Once again, the hose could have come off or split. timo22

Did you figure out which transmission you have?
Been raining and snow last couple days so haven't had an opportunity to really crawl under it. I took a quick look and didn't see anything that had and vacuum lines running to it but like I said it wasn't a good search . But I did see a blue CAB tag with 86 written on it and stamped into the metal had an 86 too . It is an 80,000 mile car so I'm really thinking that it's the original transmission .

Found this leaking though , not really sure what it is or if it's even a problem. I know very little about transmissions so sorry for any stupid questions and I appreciate y'all bearing with me !

The modulator on a Th350 looks like this:

If there is one, there should me a metal line with rubber on the end going to the modulator. That line goes from the modulator to a port on the intake manifold. A Th200 with not have a modulator as stated above. A Th200 usually has the word METRIC stamped into the bottom of the pan.

Another thing, it could be a Th250, the lighter duty Th350. The Th350 and Th250 are visually identical in every way except for the band adjustment screw in the case above the cooler line fittings (brass pieces above the red plug in the pic). You never really know with a 32 year old car.

If it's a TH350, and the modulator is bad, they are only $15 dollars and come with rubber hose. If it's a Th200, the TV cable could be out of adjustment. It has to be at full extension at full throttle. That's how you adjust it. If it's a Th250, you might be screwed, but it's very unlikely it's a Th250.

if you look at the picture he posted of the leak that shows it's a TH200...

Guess I didn't see that post. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Welp, now that that's settled, look into making sure the TV cable is set right. Check the fluid level and condition as well.
