I'm glad to hear this. I recently picked up a 75,000 BTU unit new in the box for about a third of regular price. Now I just need to get it installed. This will be the last winter without proper heat in the garage!

My home shop is divided up with 450 square feet being the "dirty room." The rest is set up as the clean room and parking of the finished stuff. The dirty room is insulated for the north pole. and has an enclosed ceiling. That is the only area that I heat. I have this small 220 electric unit that does OK. But when i starts acting up, I think I'd step up to something a little bit larger.

For scale, here is the rest of the room. It's an old picture and there is a lot more stuff on the walls and there is a ton more equipment now. But I can still get one vehicle in there, open the doors and walk around it without too much drama. View attachment 80886 View attachment 80885
Your garage looks empty compared to mine. 20 plus years of adding equipment and tools takes up a lot of space. The only negative about overhead tube heaters is you have to cautious of what you park under it at higher temps. I ruined the plastic grille on my GMC Canyon 4X4 a couple years back

I wish I had access to natural gas out here. I am stuck with a 120,000 BTU Reddy Heater salamander heater. I actually upgraded to a multi-fuel compliant heater this year, so I can get Diesel or Jet A if there is a run on Kerosene during the cold spells.

If you know any HVAC guys, they can usually get you a good deal on a takeout system. just don't go with an electric house furnace, those things are good for nothing but a $600/month electric bill.

with the guys in Texas like Jared having no winter I wonder why they have not shown the heaters like theses that they probably have in their shops......😀

That's a very old picture. About 10 years ago. It's 50% fuller now and only 10% as clean.
I fully understand. I turned the small original garage into just for storage of my engine hoist, drill press, and a bunch of parts from past projects. Thank God we're empty nesters, I've got delicate parts in most of the bedroom clothes closets. Interior parts, mouldings, windows.

Steve,

There are plenty of arsenals like that here in Texas but I don't own one. I actually have two little space heaters in my storage but they are a joke compared to that airplane hanger. Sean and I tripped the breaker running both heaters on high and trying to run the shop vac.

Ive got a Modine Hot Dawg with the sealed combustion chamber in my 22 x 30 garage. Ive had it for 12 years and no complaints beside the propane company bending me over.
I live in NY. Some pretty cold temps and I can work in shorts if I wanted to.
