Should I reuse this spindle?

I if you can get your hand on a land mine, set it in the ground with the mail box holding the switch...watch for the fire works. I know it sounds cruel but oh well.

I don't know about the US but up here since the post office is a federal gov company then any destruction of post boxes is a federal crime...

I know messing with the mail itself is a fed. crime. I think destroying the mailboxes is too, but not sure.

That probably depends on whether or not there is mail in it at the time of destruction, lol.
My uncle got sick of replaceing his mail box after snowmobiles, and snowplows kept taking it out. He built one from 7/16 flatstock for the box, and 3/8 4x4 box tubing for the post, cemented in the ground. Now his mailbox takes out the snowmobiles,

Watch the whole clip...

I got a rotor today at the junkyard. The donor car was a 1985 Camaro, but the Hollander says they are the same. I made sure to get the dust cap, bearings and hardware while I was at it too, and it ended up being cheaper than a new set of bearings, dust cap and seal. The old rotor was badly scored anyhow, so it didn't seem like a good idea to reuse it. Total cost: $13.85 for the rotor, etc., $1 admission to the yard, and $5 in gas round trip. So, just under $20. Is it going to work? Well, I will find out when I get home tonight. I open tomorrow, and want to take the Cutlass to my parent's house and put it in their garage for Halloween (it's about a 3 mile trip). I also have my mailbox up, and so far, so good...but it's only been a day.

Sound's like you got a good deal......I hope those hooligans don't read this cause then they'll know your mailbox is up again....

Oh, I am not too worried... The bed frame angle iron is a bit too flexible for my taste, but it will spring back and forth instead of just bending. Oddly, I can't pull it back out of the ground to concrete it in, so I guess it will stay hammered 2 feet into the ground with the BFH.

Well, I can't get the nut off the spindle, so I guess I will have to try again another time... maybe at the crack of dawn (10am)? It seems the washer that the bearing is held in by melted and bent itself around the nut due to the extreme heat. So, the nut won't budge. I am going to try cutting the washer back using a die grinder. Failing that, I will have to cut part of the rotor off so that I can get to the washer with an angle grinder or mini cutoff wheel.

theres a guy in my town with a plastic rubbermaid mailbox. after it getting runover so many times he welded a spring like ya see an animal mounted to in the lil kiddy parks to some rebar and now when some one hits it it just bends over and springs back up. and a camera takes a picture  so far i only know of 2 ppl getting pinched for it.

for that stuck nut on the spindle did you spray it down with something and if you have a propane torch heat up the nut before you try to remove it...
