It's a good possibility. I have a reveal coming up in PA but the weekend isn't set in stone yet it's been 30 years in the making. At leastNext weekend, not this- I gotta go to the folks down Chincoteague.
Chipping is the one thing I didn't do. I left all the flux on it didn't have time for that crap when it's done I'll blast it and paint itJust keep chipping away.
Well, I was going to drive the Pig up, but, hell, if the Albatross can get some rust stop.....We had a bright sunshiny day at the Jersey shore today! I had no ambition this morning so I didn't drag my *ss outside until about 10 and yesterday's rain was starting to dry up. I didn't think I had time for brakes revisited so I hooked up the blasting rig and drug it out front for another round of welding. When I took that day off a few weeks ago Lauren and I picked up a 4X8 of expanded steel so I grabbed some old bed frames out of my scrap pile and went to town on the toung View attachment 100245
I torched the pins out of the bed frames to get them apart so I could use them for cheap angle iron. I didn't figure it needs to be real strong for my purpose it's just holding up a hoseView attachment 100246View attachment 100247View attachment 100248
I stick welded the bed frames on with some 6011 rods like a shelf bracketView attachment 100250
Then it was on to expand steel I did a bit of a hack job cutting it but it's tough to mark that stuff with a soap stone and finde where the marks are lolView attachment 100251View attachment 100252
I used my old mig Welder to put it in. Man that thing has 1 foot in the grave but I got it done and it now holds my hoseView attachment 100254
Seeing how I had all the tools out anyway I kept right on going! Heating and beating the bent rails welding cracks in the steel even welded the fenders back on all the while using a ratchet strap to pull it all into placeView attachment 100258View attachment 100259View attachment 100260
So it's not a sh*t ton of progress but it's still progress. Of course my list of things to be wired is getting longer. I wonder if I know a guy that maybe needs rockers and cab corners in a Chevy truck???
I'm thinking so obviously rockers and cab corners are good bribery for me and if it's to cold I won't be able to but shore. I'm down if you want to order up some slip-ons just let me know so I can get some glue. Or get your own glue. Or what is probably a better idea is you drive the pig up make me not afraid to drive this a distance and I'll come down another weekend and do your truck in your garage where it's warm and the supplies dry like there supposed toWell, I was going to drive the Pig up, but, hell, if the Albatross can get some rust stop.....
What's up? Wanna do this?
