Another slightly longer trip in the truck tonight went to rt33 in Farmingdale NJ took the parkway up yup she got hot it just doesn't like spinning 3300 that long. Funny thing is I kicked it in neutral on the down hill strech in wall and it got hotter? As soon as I dropped it back in gear and got back in it it cooled back off a little same thing on rt195 and rt34 so after another somewhat disappointing visit to another welding supply store on rt33 I came back home all on back roads top speed 50 mph but usually 40 and under never got hot. I don't get it it's like the opposite of a bad fan clutch.

Sounds like you need a high flow water pump, not enough flow on under rpm's an once it's hot an you idle it down not enough flow to cool it quickly.

It's what happen to my camaro, put a high flow mechanical water pump on an it knocked it down 10 degrees on pulls an no problem cooling down after. Just a thought.

Is it possible to change the pulley size on your water pump, say 6" to 5" sort of thing? Might try that first be cheaper.

I know with the camaro l tried everything, played with timing, added on electric fans to front of rad, got a what they call super 4 core rad it's basically size of 5 core, finally the larger flow water pump an that worked on a fresh 496bbc.

how clean is the inside of the radiator and are the fins flattened out or filled with stuff blocking the air from passing through.
