the radiator is one of those plastic tank aluminum Core Replacements it was in the truck when I got it it seems to be fairly new and in good shape
It may not be big enough, being a single core. A large two core in the same dimensions might do the trick. Yes, pulley size makes a big difference, I could not completely eliminate the cooling issues on my 403 till I chucked the underdrive pulleys. Only when towing would it over heat, the 3 core Champion rad wasn't big enough, also tried a single core aluminum plastic rad, same thing. Cars with A/C usually have much larger pulleys and an enclosed impellar in the water pump. Both help with extra cooling needed. It could be the water pump but it could just need a larger rad. Make sure all the air dams are intact as well.

I'm going with some of your advice guys I just ordered a high Flo water pump on eBay it was surprisingly cheap then again it's a Chevy not an Oldsmobile. $59 shipped when it comes in on flush the cooling system again plus the radiator again and change the water pump and finally do the leaking intake gasket. If that doesn't fix it and needs a 455 olds

Check the fan clutch. I had similar problems with a bad fan clutch. Faster I went, hotter it got.

I've been doing a little research today and I found out I'm running the wrong water pump pulley! Ding ding ding so I need you guys to take a look in your junk for me and see if you have what I need it would be from approximately an 86ish? Chevy truck with air or who knows what. It will have a serpentine belt Groove for the alternator then 2 V belt grooves behind it closer to the water pump there are 2 variations with and without smog pump the smog pump pulley would be all the way in the front by the fan I don't plan to run a smog pump nor do I need one so I could run either pulley. Thanks in advance guys I appreciate it.

I didn't do anything to the truck but! Remember the 3 junk air compressors I never got to earlier in the thred? I ripped into them today and got one almost put together just waiting for a throttle cable and a couple fittings that I had to buy online but it should work just fine

I call it frankinpressor! But all the components are good so it's a hell of a lot better than buying a new one I may paint it tho it's kinda ugly

I am curious, what is the small compressor for beings you have the big one? The cobbler kids have no shoes! Wait that is the pot calling the kettle black!

Well not all the work I'll be doing will require me to bring the blasting rig. So I want a secondary air source on the truck. That and I got those three compressors for free.
